We collect a lot of junk over our lifetime, so when moving time is the ideal time to get rid of it all. Starting early and being organised will help you de-stress your moving time. Make sure you have plenty of boxes, tape and scissors, and labels for instructions to the removalists. As each box is packed, you should make a list of its contents in a book and then number the box. An inventory like this will be of help to the insurance company should any box go missing.

Linen and blankets can be used as padding for breakables, but be sure you remember what is wrapped in it - those who are unpacking need to know too, otherwise your best china could crash to the floor when a blanket is unpacked.
