Page Protectors: How To Use Them In The Scrapbooking Hobby

I love to see my scrapbooking hobby creations age a little bit, and to have a sense of time an antiquity in them. Few things please me more than picking up an old sketch-book or drawing, and seeing the faded ink and frayed edges. This temporal element that is added by the inevitable degradation is very important to me. Because of this, I don’t put any of my pages in page protectors etc. However, if you are intent on making sure your immaculate work stays fresh for years and years and years to come, make sure you get the highest quality paper, and some page protectors.

However, not everyone has the same love of the vintage look as I do. If you want your scrapbook to stay pristine over time, buy page protectors. These generally come in the standard scrapbook sizes (such as 12x12). However, even if your album is a different size, these can generally be cut down to the proper proportions. The key thing to watch out for with page protectors is that they are PVC free. The PVC compound is acidic and will slowly degrade your work over time. (Why do they even put it in protectors?! I don’t know.) This is just a small discussion as to the pros and cons of page protectors. Do you have any other scrapbooking ideas? Comments? If so, please go to the link below.
