Parenting A Never Ending Journey

Parenting is tough job and can be stressful at times. Although it is a very challenging role, parenting is very much uplifting and considered as the most priceless job we can have. If you will ask, how can a person become a good parent? It would be very hard to say since good parenting is an ability perfected through trial and error. Parents want the best for their children. Thus, good parenting skills are needed to have an exceptional parent- child relationship. Good parenting will help produce a confident and secured individual.

Your child will not remain a baby forever. Spend as much time as you can so they can grow close to you. When they are older, they will be busy with their own lives so make as much more memories as possible. Let them feel your love and that you will always be there for them. When your children did something wrong listen to their explanation first, never scold or spank them at once. Spanking is a no- no in disciplining your children. Spanking may only teach your children not to do something because they are afraid that you will spank them again. It will only do harm than good on them. Instead explain to them the pros and cons of her/his action.

Make sure to have a family bonding everyday. Do something together as a family such as a simple dinner together, doing household chores, playing cards or board games or family shopping or camping on weekends. By doing this, your relationship will be more attached at the same time siblings will help become closer. Yu can set rules provided it should be clear and consistent. Parents should always use the same rules for all their kids to avoid competition or for them to think you are favoring someone from them.

Always listen to your children when they talk. Let them feel they are important and that you are interested in what they are saying. Support their interests to help develop their skills. Never push something that they are not interested. Remember they are not us. We are only here to guide for them to become a better individual in the future.

Do not do everything for your child as they will become dependent on you. They should learn to do things for themselves so in return they will be self-reliant and can boost their self-esteem. Do not do your child’s homework. Instead, guide your children and help them with their homework, but do not do it for them.

Parenting is a never ending journey and can vary with each our children. It is a process in which both parents and children learn together as they go along. Enjoy your kids, love them and always see to it that you develop their values while they are young. It is an accomplishment for parents to see their children become a better person and you are assured that they will pass what they learn to their kids too.
