Paris; Gives Happiness To All Who Need It...

Although it isn't a well publicized fact, Paris is the second largest European city; it sits on the banks of the river Seine and is also known as the City of Lights. For most people visiting Paris, a short stay is often the way they first see the city; it is almost guaranteed that a second, longer stay will be required.

Visitors flock to see its many wonderful buildings; it has much to offer visitors who adore culture, even if it is only for a long weekend. Like most European cities, Paris is easy to get around; the Metro underground train network will probably be the main method as it runs regularly and reaches every part of the city.

It wouldn't be possible to visit this city without a trip to the top of the famous steel structure known as the Eiffel Tower; it can be seen throughout most locations around the city. You can be assured of an even more beautiful sight if you visit in the evening when it is illuminated; guided tours are available where the patriotic tour guides give you an in depth history and an insight to what it is to be French.

A trip down the Champs Elysees is encouraged when you visit Paris as this is the city's most famous street; it's where you will find all the top class hotels, shops and restaurants. This avenue may be select but it attracts large numbers of visitors daily; it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.

The world famous Louvre museum is in this city; it houses over three hundred thousand exhibits but not all of them are ever on display at the same time. There are enough art exhibits to keep you occupied for more time than your short stay in Paris would allow; approximately 8 million visitors a year come to see the Venus de Milo and the Mona Lisa, both of which are on display. Over the years, Paris has been home to many of the world's famous artists; many of whom left large collections of their paintings here like Monet and Picasso.

Another famous Paris attraction is The Arc de Triomphe which was built within the first decade of the nineteenth century; the names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it can be found in Charles de Gaulle Place at the intersection of twelve avenues including the Champs Elysees.

You will not be at a loss for places to visit whilst in the city; and whilst there are many more worthy examples, those listed here should not be missed. A Paris short stay vacation will probably be best suited as just a taster of the city; anything else on your ‘to see' list can wait for your next trip.
