Paris; The Home Of True Performance...

If you are planning to visit Europe then you must stay at least a couple of days in one of its largest cities, Paris; it is also one of the best European city destinations. Paris short stays of a few days, often over a long weekend are the normal way to see it; for most visitors, this is just enough time to see what it has to offer.

It is famous for many famous buildings and locations; it has much to offer visitors who adore culture, even if it is only for a long weekend. Traveling around Paris is relatively easy for visitors as well as locals; the Metro underground train network will probably be the main method as it runs regularly and reaches every part of the city.

The Eiffel Tower at over 300 meters tall and is a magnificent steel structure; it provides stunning views from the top and is visible throughout most of the city. At night, it comes alive with lights that have to be seen to be believed; if you are really enthusiastic you can take a tour where the guide will tell you how this beautiful tower was built.

A walk along the Champs Elysees is essential when you visit Paris; it will present you with many famous designer shops and good restaurants. When you visit this region of the city you will see it is a much more select area; the exclusive five star hotels situated in this more select part of the city might be out of most visitors' price range.

The city's famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time; with over 300,000 wonderful artistic works, you simply cannot see all of it in one day. Even on a short stay in Paris, this is a an art lovers paradise; some of the world's most important art collections including the infamous Mona Lisa are on display. What makes Paris special is the number of artists that have been attracted to this great capital; the likes of Monet, Picasso and many others lived in the city for years and some of their work can still be seen today.

Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century; to honor his generals (and his troops) he had their names inscribed upon it. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it stands in the place where the city's main avenues begin including the Champs Elysees.

This city has a huge variety of places to visit, many of these have not even mentioned here; these are however, the most popular with regular tours arranged, many of which are either free or at a subsidized cost. You should only ever consider a short stay in Paris as a sample of what is on offer; that would require a longer visit as you probably won't have time to visit the gothic churches and castles in only a few days.
