Let's illustrate a practical scenario. Suppose, you are using Windows Vista-based computer. This has made 'Windows.exe' file of Windows Vista corrupt. 'Winload.exe' is the boot loader program that is responsible for loading the operating system kernel and device drivers. If this file is damaged, you nay not be able to boot the system. You can still recover partition data through a backup. On the 'Welcome to Setup' screen, press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console. Run the 'fixboot' or 'fixmbr' command at the command prompt.
