Party Bags And The Fight Against Stress

This is certainly not a topic that I thought I would be writing about but over the past couple of months I have come across numerous books and articles on the subject of stress management and one thing that seems to be common to all is the idea of getting back to basics.

There is now a trend away from the "flashier" type of gifts and activities and a new found interest in gardening, DIY and home crafts. There are many reasons for this new wave of interest in more "organic" activities including, saving money, but the main reason seems to be personal. This can range from a desire to be more "hands on" in this age of computers and virtual everything to a desire to be more creative and imaginative as opposed to the cookie cutter, process driven type of work most people are involved with today. There is also a greater awareness of the environment and the damage overly processed goods are inflicting on the earth.

Research however is telling us that people just want an alternative more natural way of living and are taking the first small steps in changing their lifestyles and DIY is playing a big part in that change.

So what has all this got to do with party bags and children's birthday parties ? That is a question I have been asking myself over the past few months and despite what you think it is very relevant.

When faced with the prospect of hosting a birthday party for their child most parents choose the default option and purchase all the various party supplies and entertainment. They basically outsource everything. This is an option I have chosen on many occasions. It seems easier and the least stressful option.

However, having read about the use of DIY in the fight against stress I am now forming the opinion that getting more hands on in the preparation and hosting of a child's birthday party can not only be enjoyable but can help relieve the stress of a hard days work. By engaging with your child in the preparations for the birthday party you are not only spending quality time with your child but you are also "escaping" from the daily grind and worries of the day job.

This does not mean you have to change your lifestyle radically. Simply spending half an hour with your child making invitations rather than answering e-mails is one small step you can take to help create a better work / life balance.

The important thing is not to regard the birthday party as a chore and inconvenience but an opportunity to rebalance your lifestyle, and to start using the creative side of your brain.

Gardening, DIY and painting , to name a few , are activities that people are using to relieve the stress of the world we live in but why not start with your childs birthday party. As well as experimenting with a new way of approaching life you will save money.

I hope this article gets you thinking and if if you do not change the format of your child's birthday party perhaps it will set you thinking about other ways you can change your lifestyle for the better.

party bags as a stress buster. Who wuld have thought it ? In my experience of childrens parties they are more likely to raise blood pressure levels rather than reduce them. However recent research suggest more hands on activities such as DIY and assembling party bags can help in reducing stress. Why not give it a go.
