Every graduate of an Accounting course or an employee working in an Accounting Department has a dream to become a Certified Public Accountant. The dream is the first step towards that goal, followed by focus, then planning, its execution, and lastly confidence. Becoming a CPA is not that simple as when you have conceived of that dream. It needs focus on that dream which will give you a promotion in your present job, or finding one if you are still on a job hunt. The prestige the career will give you, the money and security you will enjoy are beyond your imaginations to fathom if you will become a CPA.

The difficulties you will overcome to become a CPA are manageable. While focus depends largely on discipline and dedication, the others are also within your control. Let us discuss them in details as your guides.

Planning. The dream is already there, and you are already focused. Then you must plan. First, mark the exam dates in your calendar in front of you to keep you inform. Concentration is part of the execution process of your plans. Put a stop to all and every activity that runs counter to your review schedule.

Investment. Aside from investing your precious time in this review schedule, buy the CPA review materials, avail tutorial, refresher courses, or attend CPA Review schools. This would entail a lot of money but your future is assured. The amount you will invest today is just a drop in a bucket when you become a CPA. Passing the CPA exam on your first attempt is already a premium prize in itself.

Practical Testing. Conduct your own simulated CPA Board exam. Take the entire practice test you have on hand at the end of every topic you have reviewed. Time yourself, take the exam honestly, and rate yourself. If you fail, take another exam and do not be discourage. If you retrace your steps, you would find the answer why and where you missed that right step. Retrace, review, and retake the subject you failed until you pass it. Practice with patience makes one perfect. Practical testing is part of executing the plan.
