Peel Away The Signs Of Aging

For more than 3500 years, women have been using substances from sour milk to fermented grape skins and alabaster to improve their complexions. Today, different acids known as chemical face peels are used to remove the outer layers of the skin and improve its appearance. The face peel has become one of the most popular cosmetic surgery procedures in the UK. As well as erasing the signs of aging such as lines and wrinkles they are also used to help those with blemishes, acne and scarring.

A chemical face peel helps new skin cells to grow and rejuvenates the appearance of the skin making it looks younger and fresher.

Specialist dermatologist, Jan Birch at Manchester's Blemish Clinic treats both cosmetic and medical patients. She explains, "There are different types of chemical peels available all of which are offered at the Blemish Clinic:

Glycolic peel. This is a very mild peel used on sensitive skin to reduce fine lines caused by age or sun.

TCA peel. Using trichloroacetic acid this skin peel treatment removes the upper skin layers, ideal for removing the signs of sun damage or acne.

Phenol Peel. Through extremely deep exfoliation this chemical face peel works for people with deep wrinkles and sun damaged skin.

Mesoeclat®. This peel activates the skin's natural production of collagen and elastin after peeling off the upper lay of the skin.

Sand Abrasion TCA peel. This is can remove the signs of stretch marks."

Dermal Roller. This treatment stimulates the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally. It can improve acne scars, age and sun damaged skin, facial and décolleté lines and wrinkles and stretch marks.
