When someone thinks of a junk yard, what probably comes to mind for most people are piles of rusting cars, weeds and rats. That’s not a very pleasant picture but not too long ago that was a pretty adequate description. Today however that picture might not be so accurate. In recent years, salvage yards in the state of Pennsylvania have been seeing a transformation of sorts. This transformation is something that is of a multifold nature, involving not just the physical appearance of these places but also the how and why of the way they do business.

Necessity is said to be the mother of invention and in the case of salvage yards nothing could have been more necessary for the survival of the ecosystems in Pennsylvania than for junk yards to change the way they handle inoperable vehicles. Many of the changes that occurred not only dealt with environmental factors but also involved an increased quality in the used parts themselves. So when consumers today are faced with expensive vehicle repairs, there is one place they can save some money. A visit or call to junk yards in Pennsylvania can normally turn up the quality used part that is needed and for just a fraction of the cost to purchase that same part new at a dealership. As standards have risen at auto recyclers around the state, word has gotten out that these are now modern facilities that utilize the latest technologies in both the used parts industry and the environmental one.

The inventory system of the salvage yards in Pennsylvania are now almost completely kept on direct access system. This means that no longer does one have to get out the phone book and call every place in town trying to locate the correct part. Today with just a few clicks of the mouse, a part can be located in just a few minutes. Prices can be compared. So the part is not available locally. Well today that is not a problem either, even if it is on the other side of the state or country, most auto recyclers are happy to ship the needed part directly to the mechanic or doorstep that is desired. Another plus for the consumers is that many of the auto recyclers are members of the Better Business Bureau this provides another level of legitimacy for the recycler and protection for the customer. With so many wonderful changes that are taking place today with auto recyclers in Pennsylvania, it is no wonder that this is one of the fastest growing industries in the state.
