A personal computer game (often refered as a PC Game or a computer game or a pc video game) is a game that one plays on a personal computer (a PC) and not on a game console. The first computer games involved simple graphics, charecters and gameplay but nowadays there is a variety of genres, stories and advanced 3D graphics and effects.
Local Area Network gaming
Multiplayer gaming has been largely limited to local area networks before profitable broadband Internet access became available because of their generally higher carrying a lower latency of Dial-Up service time. They allowed more players to join any computer game, but they urged today because of the higher latency of most Internet connections and costs related to broadband.
LAN gaming usually requires two or more PCs, A network router and enough cables to connect every computer in the network. Furthermore, each computer must have a network card installed or integrated to its motherboard to communicate with other computers on the network. Optionally, a LAN may include an external connection to the Internet.
Online Games
Multipleyar online games have achieved great popularity as a result of increasing broadband adoption among consumers. Carrying highly accessible Internet connections allow many players to play together, and thus have found particular use in mass multipleyar online RPGs, Tanarus and persistent online games such as World War II Online.
Although it is possible to participate in online computer games using Dial-Up modem, broadband Internet connections are usually considered necessary to reduce "lag" between players. Such relationships require a compatible broadband modem connected to a PC through a network interface card (usually integrated to the motherboard of your computer), optionally separated by router. Online games require a virtual environment, usually called game server. These virtual servers inter-gamers connection that allows real-time, and often the story is quick action. To further meet this needed, Server game providers are becoming more popular in the last half decade. While not required for all gamers, these servers provide a unique environment fully customizable - which in the end gamers experience they so desire. Today there are about 10,000 free game servers hosted in Bulgaria.
