Perspective Of Psychology

It often happens that you see someone acting strangely or abnormally and you try to figure out that what could be the reason for that person’s this abnormal behavior and can it be cured and is then how? Psychologist or psychiatrist also asks these question when a person having some problem comes to them. To figure out the solution to the person’s problem they first need to categorize the person that under what perspective does he falls and then the medication or treatment is done accordingly. There are six perspectives of psychology which all the psychologist or psychiatrist use to solve a problem. This article discusses those six perspectives.

Firstly, it’s the biological perspective. This perspective is also called neuroscience or bio-science. This perspective deals with the problems related to the body that is in this field the experts believe that a person’s abnormal behavior is the cause of some problem with the person’s body. Hence, they suggest through examination of the body to see where the problem lies. The factors which can cause an abnormal behavior can be genes that a person inherited from his parents and the abnormality might have been inherited or it might be caused due to hormones released by the endocrine glands present in the body, or there could be some nerves damaged or brain malfunctioning that’s causing a person to act strangely and there are many other factors too.

The second perspective is Psycho-analytic. This perspective deals with the unconscious part of our mind which is not under our control. Problems like hallucinations, phobias, depression, and anxiety for no reason at all and many other such problem falls under this category as it is the unconscious mind where all such unpleasant thoughts are stored and the expert believe that those thoughts are what cause these problems to the person. In other words this perspective is the study of a person’s past to find the reason for a problem and then to cure it. The third perspective is Behavior, the experts in this field say that all behavior is learned by a person when he comes to this world, thus the surrounding is a major factor which contributes to the behavior of a person. So Psychiatrist considers the environment of the patients for any abnormal behavior they show. The fourth perspective is humanistic. In this the experts believe that everyone has positive traits but it’s up to them how to use them and advance forward in life, and they believe in the freewill and they believe that we control our own lives.

The fifth perspective is cognitive. It deals with the thought process, feelings of the persons. The experts examine the thought process and judge the feelings of the person to find how the two things affect the behavior of a person and whether it is a positive effect or a negative one. The sixth perspective is Social cultural. The experts in this field believe that the society a person lives in has a tremendous effect on the behavior of the person. They even believe that the society can also affect the thought process of a person, hence the psychiatrist under this perspective look for answers for an abnormal behavior by learning about the society that one lives in.
