Perth Prison’s Listed Building Receive’s Landscaping Facelift

At the moment Perth Prison’s main listed building is stepping out of the shadows of it's old image into a new era.

The listed building at the front of the prison is a vital part of Perth’s heritage, which has now been brought back to life. Paving and walling manufacturer Tobermore based in Falkirk have rejuvenated the outside space with the installation of their European Quality Award winning paving.

Tobermore Sales Executive for the area, Tom Menzies, believes that it was the traditional look of the building that made it easy to use Tobermore’s timeless paving product Tegula, “As a listed building it is important that the landscaping matches the exterior finish of the building and in this case the colour and nature of the traditional listed building meant that an old style paving product had to be used and Tegula Cedar was the obvious choice” said Tom.

Tom continues, “We recently have developed a new three size Tegula product called Tegula Trio and with the varying sizes and rough edges of the product that traditional timeless look could be achieved for Perth Prison’s ‘front of house’. I am delighted that the architect Trevor Strahan from Morgan Sindall is pleased with the finished result”.

“The paving contractor for the project, Colin Hutchinson from Meikleom Contracts, must take a lot of credit for the excellent finish of the landscaping” said Tom.

Adding a fully landscaped outside space to the building will add value to the building for staff, visitors and tourists to the area.
