Coming off of an already an excellent performance at this years World Series of Poker, Phil Ivey has bust a gut through a field of 6,494 players to reach the final table of the 2009 Main Event.
Having already won 2 bracelets this year, Ivey entered Day 8 in fourth chip position. After clashing throughout the day and losing half of his stack, he was able to fight through and secure a place among the final 9. Every player remaining is guaranteed to win at least $1.2 million, with first place receiving $8.5 million. The much-anticipated action is now set to conclude in November 9.
Scoring 3 WSOP bracelets in 2002, 2005, and 2 in 2009, Ivey has proven to be an undefeated in the world of poker. Ivey has made a career of taking the advantage of the top cash games for millions. A consistent winner in both online and live "big games," Ivey continues to establish his game while taking profits like the one in a recent conquest in which he landed nearly $1 million in one hand.
"You have no idea how bad I want this,Today was a bad day, but I made it. I would say the wait is a drawback because I'm kind of in a groove playing with all of these guys. I'm going to forget some of the things I saw from them and will have to replay some of the hands in my mind. I would love to play through right now." said Phil Ivey outlasted a drastic Day 8 to make it on November's Day 9.
Regardless of his apathy toward the media spotlight, Ivey is still one of the most sought-after names in the poker industry. He is completely considered to be the best aggressive poker player. At 33, the youngest player to win 7 bracelets and is on speed to break almost every WSOP record on the books. He is already fourth on the all-time tournament money list and is a regular at the “Big Game” at the Bellagio where poker’s best play for nosebleed stakes.
