Philadelphia Ultrasonic Liposuction Procedure

There are various liposuction procedures available out there. Liposuction is a type of surgery designed to remove pouches of fat that you cannot get rid of in any other way. The "problem areas" of the body, like the hips, rear end, and thighs, are some of the most common places people elect to have liposuction done.

In that respect, if you are significantly overweight or obese you are not a candidate for liposuction. It is intended for people who are of average weight, or a bit above the average for their. Think about it: if you are overweight, the skin on certain parts of your body have naturally lost its firmness. Having liposuction would thus leave you with sags and folds of skin. However, if you choose to implement a healthy diet and a good exercise regime before then, to lose weight on your own and get toned, then liposuction could work. You also have to be healthy in general.

There are two different types of liposuction. Tumescent liposuction involves the injection of a solution into areas of excess fat before its removal. It contains a mixture of saline, painkiller, and epinephrine. It makes your blood vessels contract. You are relaxed, which lets the surgeon perform better. As well, the contracted vessels lessen the loss of blood. The mild sedative helps reduce pain as you are having the procedure and after.

The second type of liposuction is assisted by an ultrasound. The energy of the ultrasound turns the fat cells to liquid. This allows it to be removed easier.

Generally, the procedure for liposuction itself involves many steps. It begins with anesthesia. This may be a local anesthesia or a general one. It all depends on how much excess fat you are having removed. By the same token, it can be performed at either a doctor's office or at the hospital. After the anesthesia has been applied, the surgeon makes a series of small incisions. Through these, whichever suction device being used slides into the incision and removes the fat.

A cannula attached to a device used for suction are the tools used for liposuction procedures. The cannula is inserted through a series of small incisions which are made in areas where there are excess fat. The cuts are made between the skin and the muscles. Sometimes a standard suction pump is used, sometimes a syringe. The resulting body shape is smoother with this method.
