Photo Printer Buying Guide

Photo printer is one of the most commonly used devices these days as it can be used to print high quality photos and other kinds of documents however it is mostly used for the former. This kind of a printer is different from the other ones as they have a higher amount of colour cartridges, hence allowing wider range of hues and tones. Some of the cartridges also contain special photo ink to improve the quality of the printout. All the printers can print pictures, but the striking difference is the quality of the photo.

A photo printer is usually portable and hence transportation is not a problem and it does not have to be permanently connected to a computer. They are equipped with various slots to read the digital media cards or the memory cards. They still have the traditional USB ports and parallel. Most of these printers do not come along with connection cords and hence one has to know the requirements before purchasing and storing the device.

One of the most commonly available types of a photo printer is the wireless one. It prints high quality photos without the cables running between the printer and the computer. It is connected to the wireless network and hence stays connected as far as the wireless network is on. In case the network is switched off and the user wants to turn it on, the printers would automatically detect and connect to the pre-set network for usage.

There are plenty of factors that the buyer has to consider before purchasing a photo printer. First and foremost factor that has to be considered is the size. There are plenty of sizes available in the market and they are obviously related directly to the cost. If one is pleased with printing 4x6 photos, then there is no need to invest on a large printer that would be costly. Most of the printers can print on a normal letter paper size. Thus such people can choose to purchase the basic digital photo printer.

Next factor that has to be taken into consideration is whether one wants the Inkjet technology or Dye Sublimation technology. If you are the person who would print photos and text, then the best one to choose would be the Inkjet technology. This technology works by spreading tiny dots of ink through the nozzles on print-head. However if you are the one who plans to print only photos, then the best choice would be to use Dye sublimation technology. This uses the heat to transfer dye onto paper. At the bottom line, the Dye Sublimation technology is expensive than the former and output is better as well. If you are a person who looks for the best print of photos, without any doubt the photo printer is the best option.
