Physical Activity For Better Health
Set some target goals. If you need to lose weight, find out what your ideal weight should be according to your height and gender. There are plenty of online tools to help you figure that out. Once you have that figure how much you would need to lose to reach that weight. Depending on how much you need to lose, I would recommend breaking it into 5 or 10 pound increments. For example, if you want to lose twenty pounds, set a goal for the first five pounds in three weeks. Or should you need to lose eighty pounds, break into to ten pound increments. I suggest this because when you first look at how much you need to lose, it may seem unattainable. But by looking at the short term goals, it is easier to believe that you can do it. Start by changing your eating habits. I don’t like the word diet because to me, that indicates once you reach your desired fitness level, you can go back to eating all junk food. That doesn’t mean you can never have ice cream again either. But once in awhile as a reward for reaching a goal is fine. You need to exercise as well. You knew that was coming. It doesn’t have to be extreme. Of course the more intense the better but start doing something. Walk, run, bike, hike, etc. Try to get in at least thirty minutes a day. Once you’re in the habit of exercising every day, begin to add different exercises to your workout. Weights, aerobics, kickboxing to name a few. There are workout programs you can do in the convenience of your home. They help take the guesswork out of what exercise to do and what to eat to lose and maintain your desired level of fitness. Getting started is key and once you have, you have a good chance of reaching your goals.
