Picking Good Dvd Titles Is What Seperates The Successful Businesses From Those That Fail

So you think the money is in a new release dvd. Most new sellers fall into this trap. With a new release dvd I have to spend nearly $20 in order to make $2 or $3. I would much rather sale a good selling title that cost me $5 or $6 and make the same amount of profit.

I really like movies that are a couple of years old. This is the category I put most of my time into. What titles you decide to sell is totally up to you. It is important that you spend enough time doing the research before you buy a lot of titles that you can't sell.

I tell all of my customers to study auctions that are listed by the largest sellers of dvd's on ebay. By taking a look at their past auctions you will see there is hardly any (if any at all) new release dvd's for sale on their auction pages.

WHAT DVD TITLES SHOULD I SELL?

The best thing that you can do when picking dvd titles to sell is to research the titles. You can do an advanced search on Ebay to research top selling titles. Just refine your search to the top seller's (as mentioned above) and find out what titles sell.

You should not limit your research to just these three sellers. Do an extensive search on Ebay to see what dvd's are selling.

When I find a title that is a good seller I add it to my "Buy List." As you do this you will see that the list of sellers will grow tremendously. The process may seem slow at first, but after a few weeks you should have a fairly large list.

For instance, if you spend 5 - 10 hours this week researching titles and come up with 100 good ones. You add those 100 to your "Buy List". Then next week when you spend the same 5 - 10 hours researching titles and come up with 100 new titles, your buy list will have grown to 200. After a few weeks, you'll have several hundred movies on your list.

Besides a "Buy List" it is also a good idea to have a "Do Not Buy List." You may find a good seller, but after a while it will fall off of the good seller list. It should be a routine that you go through your list from time to time and cut out the dvd's that no longer sell so that you make sure that you do not purchase them again.

Another Great Point

You will not make money on every title that you offer. The goal in your business is to make the maximum amount of profit on every title that you offer. My advice is that you don't waste your time on titles that you think will sell well, because most likely if you think they will they probably won't. Research big selling titles (and these do not have to be a new release dvd) and find the ones that you can see a two to three dollar profit on. When you find these add them to your buy list.
