Pike Fishing

Does anybody want to hear about Northern Pike ?

I doubt it, but here it goes anyway.

Well, they are probably the greatest freshwater fish to catch in the planet. With their amazing size and strength, the Pike have it all. I became zealous about these fish years ago, as they will mash most lures you throw at them.

So how do people catch Northern Pike?

Well, to respond the second part first, virtually all these fish can be found in cool to cold climate, which can extend from all of Canada into northern parts of the United States. Spacious water reservoirs in the deep south/west of the US may also be able to maintain Pike. If you want trophy Northern Pike, the best bet is normally a fly-in lake in Canada, but even little ones can be awfully fun.

When Northern Pike fishing, you can start fishing right past ice-out. These fish hastily become full of life in the back bays and can be caught sight fishing for them in the shallows.

Use big and flashy baits to catch these fish. They are aggressive and will hit almost anything. There are pictures online of Pike eating fish 2/3 their size. Amazing species.
