Your Quinceanera is coming right up! First there's the excitement of back to school, then the holidays, and before long spring is right around the corner, heralding your official arrival as a lovely young quince anos woman.
You've probably already thought a lot about your Quinceanera fiesta, and how the decorations and finery will look as your guests arrive. But have you decided on a theme?
Planning a Spring Theme
Spring is the perfect time to host a themed fiesta! With its carefree color palette and warm, rich textures, springtime lends itself to any number of charming themes. As you plan your Quince fiesta, you can bring gentle pastel colors into your decorations, including warm tans and ecru, shimmering blues, and lovely yellows and oranges.
If you're looking for the most stylish decorations possible, you can include some shimmering, metallic-gloss materials to your decorations, to create a warm counterpoint to the pastels. Pearlescent surfaces and sleek, polished accessories and favors also give a smart appearance that's perfect for evoking a sense of warmer weather.
Your Imagination Sets The Theme
Because you choose the Quinceanera theme as part of your arrival into young womanhood, the choice of themes is really only limited to your sense of style and your own new tastes.
Beach: Why not a beach-themed fiesta? Imagine your guests finding themselves at an exotic beach of your creation inside the fiesta hall. You could use shimmering fabric to represent water and pastels to represent the sandy beach in all your decorations, creating look that's casual yet at the time sophisticated.
Garden: A garden party is another perennial springtime theme that you can inject with new life. The traditional garden party includes soft music and delicate beverages and refreshments. Boost the theme's volume by including gourmet appetizers, bling-ready favors, and the latest music of your choice.
Your theme doesn't have to be as broad as "beach" or "garden," either. Many of the symbols of springtime make great themes all by themselves. For example, a butterfly is pretty much the poster image of spring. A butterfly-themed Quinceanera can show how you've emerged from the "cocoon" of childhood into the lovely young woman that appears before your guests.
Another idea is to base your fiesta on that ultimate sign of romance and affection: the long-stemmed rose. With a deep red as your anchoring color, you might strew flower pedals at every table; give rose-themed party favors; even leave a bouquet of roses at the altar after your Misa.
And you know early spring is carnival season, too! Your Quinceanera can be a taste of the carnival season, with your choice of Rio de Janeiro or New Orleans flavorings. Choose the Brazilian style carnival for outlandish color schemes, fanciful feathers and sequined masks, and plenty of salsa music. The New Orleans brand of Mardi Gras might include steaming plates of catfish and gallons of soft drinks, tasty fruit punches served in tall traveler cups, and of course plenty of souvenir beads for guests to take home and admire. The beads might even become a part of your design motif!
The only real advice, here: take your time and settle on the theme you think works best for you. Take these ideas or build your own, using the ones here to light your way. Feliz quince anos!
