Normally, wedding is a once in a lifetime occasion and one of the most auspicious moments in anybody’s life. The wedding day is remembered far longer than any other event or day. The decorations of the place of the wedding reception would again depend on the budget of the individuals and the location of the wedding. However, it is important to understand that the floral arrangements and other decorations could be done either at moderate costs or with enormous spending, both of them making equally remarkable impressions on the guests. Similarly, the bridal makeup, bridal wear, and the bridegroom wear could be in tune with the funds at hand and still leave a lasting memory in the minds of the guests. Remember that elegance is a flexible thing which could be obtained either in a simple manner or on a lavish scale.

One of the most important aspects of the wedding reception is the food that is provided. Again, it is the budget and the type of guests expected which will determine what is offered as nourishment. The whole thing could be a simple high tea, if the wedding reception is needed to be conducted as a simple affair. Otherwise, there could be elaborate lunch or dinner, with several courses served by the caterers at each plate or as a buffet type of arrangement, with the guests left to decide what they wish to take out of the several choice items, decided according to the local tastes and preferences. Beverages could be offered separately or along with the food, depending on the duration of the wedding or the wedding reception and the time the guests would spend at the function. Cocktails could be provided separately if there is a preference for liquor but care should be taken that nobody exceeds the limits. Even if a person goes beyond tolerance levels, they should not be allowed to drive vehicles back to their places.

The choices for entertainment ideas in a wedding reception are unlimited. Wedding bands or music troupes is a normal practice in most of the weddings. Apart from that, video shows, games, dances, drawings by caricature artists, photo sessions, etc. could be planned according to the tastes of the organizers and the guests. Since children could be quite troublesome if they are kept idle, it would always be ideal to have separate entertainment arrangements for children, with several options according to their age. Games, magic shows, cartoon videos, singing and dancing competitions, etc. are some of the items that would keep not only the children but even the adults fully occupied, without getting bored.
