Plastic Bed Liners - 3 Ways Better Than Spray On Liners

Plastic bed liners for pickups are better in some ways than more expensive spray on liners. Depending on how you use your truck a cheaper plastic liner may be just what you want. A spray on liner has some advantages for sure, but a plastic one has advantages too.

Cheaper

For one, a drop in bed liner is cheaper. Save several hundred dollars over a professional spray coating. The very best plastic liners are half the cost of a spray on one. Now it's a different look for sure, but the look is just different. Which looks better is just a matter of personal preference.

Tougher

If you really use your truck for hauling, a plastic lining is a great choice. Here's why. A drop in liner is very thick, hard material that is almost impossible to break, dent or damage. Now you can scrape it up, and over a long time it can show wear and damage. But a plastic lining will take the toughest jobs with no problem. For example, hauling concrete blocks is about as abrasive a hauling task as you can get. A drop in liner just needs a washing after hauling blocks and you'll hardly see any damage.

Now a spray on liner is tough, no doubt. But a spray coating is after all a high tech paint coating. The thick spray coating is damaged by hard use, but it's so thick you don't often get damage all the way down through the coating. And the spray coating can be repaired, but it's damaged until it's repaired.

Not Permanent

As tough as plastic bed liners are, they are easily replaced by just pulling one out and slipping another in. Not so with a spray on liner. It's permanent, so the only way to make it like new is to get it repaired. Until it's repaired, you have a damaged liner. You also can't change your mind about the spray liner. You've got it once it's installed.

Use your truck for tough hauling and you may wish to consider plastic bed liners. You can save money as compared to spray liners. Plus the liners are tougher if you'll be using your truck for really rough hauling jobs.
