Pop-ups, Should You Use Slide-in Pop-ups For Your List Building?
Pop-ups, love them or hate them, they work. The new ones that slide in slow seem to be less irritating than the old ones that just pop-up. The new ones are un-blockable as well. It seems, if you don't use a pop-up, but have an opt-in form lower on the page, you get far less sign ups. The other option is to not use either, but use a squeeze page "pre-sale page". The squeeze page also irritates some people; they just click away.
So What To Do? I personally like the pop-in. With the new pop-ins, along with your opt-in sign-up form, you can easily ad an audio message to introduce your site.
Remember, we are in an attention age. If you don't get your visitors' attention in the first 10-15 seconds, they will be gone in a click!
I like to have an Aggressive Strong Headline, then in about 3-4 seconds, have my Pop-in, slide in with an opt-in sign up, offering a nice gift and a short audio with a strong introduction. If you have never seen the two combined, opt-in and audio, you should check this marketing strategy out.

They will bring some traffic. This is also a great place to Test Ads. Sometimes, you can just change a few words and get very different results. Keep a ledger of what works, then tweak it and see if it works better.
