Popular Halloween Activities In The Scottsboro Area

October means Halloween fun in the Scottsboro, Alabama area. Families looking for seasonal activities check out some nearby pumpkin patches and corn mazes. Teenagers and young adults who want to experience a bit more of the fright factor head to a nearby haunted maze. Here are three of the most popular Halloween attractions in the area.

Down on the Farm is located just east of Scottsboro in Rainsville, Alabama. Plenty of kid friendly activities make this a perfect family outing. Select just the right pumpkin from the 30 acre pumpkin patch. Wander through the 6 acre corn maze or the hay bale maze. Visit with the farm animals, have a picnic, or shoot the corn cannon. Children can take a ride on the cow train or enjoy the kid’s play area. Admission to the pumpkin patch and playground is $8. Admission to the corn maze and playground is also $8. Combination tickets are $12. Hours are Tuesday-Thursday from 4-8pm, Friday from 4-9pm, Saturday from 10am-9pm, and Sunday from 10am-6pm. Down on the Farm is located at 2257 Heaton Road, off Highway 75 South in Rainsville.

The Crow Creek Pumpkin Patch is a short drive north of Scottsboro, near Stevenson, Alabama. It is located on Loyd Brothers Farm, which has been in the same family for over 100 years. Visitors can make their way through the 5 acre Great Pumpkin Corn Maze and then enjoy a hayride out to the pumpkin patch. The gift shop sells craft items, painted pumpkins, and seasonal decorations. Visitors may bring their own picnic or purchase food at the Snack Shack. Admission is $8 per person and includes the hayride and a pumpkin from the pumpkin patch. Crow Creek Pumpkin Patch is located 12 miles north of Stevenson on Highway 117. It will be open through Halloween. Hours are 8am-5pm on Thursday-Saturday and 10am-5pm on Sunday.

One of the area’s most popular fall attractions is the Field of Screams, a haunted maze in Brownsboro, Alabama. Thousands of people visit each year for a fright filled experience. This year the maze is bigger than ever and will be open until November 20. Hours are Friday nights from 5-11pm, Saturdays from noon to 11pm, and Sundays from 1-5pm. Haunted Nights admission is $15 for adults and $10 for kids. Admission to the maze at non-haunted times is $10 for adults and $5 for kids. The maze is located off Highway 72 at Brownsboro, between Huntsville and Scottsboro.

Each weekend in October brings plenty of Halloween festivities to enjoy. Northeast Alabama’s warm sunny days and crisp fall evenings are perfect for these outdoor activities.
