Pornography Addiction - What Is It Exactly?

Pornography addiction is something many people have trouble understanding. Just how can something like porn become an addiction for so many people, or anyone at all is what many might wonder. Is this term perhaps misleading, or does it need a term like addiction to really define it?

The word addiction is the one we must look into more deeply. We understand what pornography is, so this does not merit any real attention. The only thing to possibly mention is that for the most part these days we are talking about a wide variety of porn, but mainly online porn.

Addiction - What is it?

Addiction is not just something drugs addicts have; it is a behaviour and a habit in a person's life that is damaging. This is something that becomes so habitual that you feel like you need to do this behaviour no matter what the cause of the addiction is. The fear of some sort of physical or emotional consequence seems to be there if you do not fulfil this behaviour. This makes it very hard to quit as any addict will tell you.

As mentioned, drugs are not the only thing people become addicted to. The behaviour of taking drugs is the addiction, the chemical high you get from drugs, and from porn/orgasm, and other things like alcohol addiction - this is what ingrains this behaviour as an addiction. This is not the only thing; many other external factors come into play to truly make this a deep and difficult addiction as well. It is the fact that you have continued over a long time to consistently do this behaviour, the high you receive, and the external factors all together that combine to make any damaging behaviour an addiction.

So really, many things can be addictive from alcohol to pornography. Pron especially releases many feel good chemicals into your brain and you begin to anchor this feeling to certain places such as you computer over time. This becomes your junkie place to "shoot up" in a way. Even if you try to fight it you can be overwhelmed by cravings and fall back into the fantasy and release again, and again.

Porn addiction is real and is a proper addiction for many people - just as others are addicted to alcohol, sex, or even food. The ease of access due to all the porn online makes this a very secret and widespread addiction too.
