Post Your Goals Where You Can See Them Everyday
What helps keep me on track towards completing my goals is using a sticky note program that comes with Microsoft Windows 7. I write out what goals I want to get done for the week that will help me inch closer towards achieving my long term goals. I like this program because every time I turn on my computer the program pops up for me to see and reminds me of the work I have to get done before I go off and lose an hour worth of time watching YouTube videos. When I do achieve a goal I don't delete it from the list. I simply type an "x" next to each item that is done. I like this because at the end of the week I have my accountability sheet for what I completed and what I missed. The I can review to see if I tried to do too much, or if I wasted too much time. This tactic is great for little short term goals, but for big long term goals like moving to another country or meeting someone of importance, I like to write those down in a notebook that I review periodically from time to time as a way to view the forest from the trees. So that is it. It's a great way to stay focus and make forward progress towards your goals. It is also a self esteem booster when you look at a list of what you got done as opposed to a list of what you missed (accountability).
