Potty Training 3 Year Old Children
The advantage of potty training an "older" child is that most of the required developmental skills will already be present. A lot of children can already talk at the age of 3, so communication and participation is normally a lot easier. The child will also be more aware of bodily functions than the average 2 year old. This basically means that physical and emotional readiness in the child is normally not an issue at this age. For this reason, one of the most effective ways of potty training a 3 year old is Dr. Phil's one day potty training method. With this method, a special doll that wets is used to teach the child about using the potty. This method uses the well known concept that the best way to learn something is to teach it. The child teaches the doll to use the potty and in the process learns to use the potty themselves. While this method is very effective, it is a bit more expensive than other methods because you will have to buy a special wetting doll (available for boys and girls) and a few other items that will be used during the training. It normally takes one day or less for the child to get rid of the diapers using this method, so it is one of the quickest methods available.
