Potty Training Puppies Successfully
The first thing you have to note is that there are many different types of dogs. The process will go a lot smoother if you realize early that some dogs learn quicker than others. When it comes to potty training this is no different. If you have a choice of the dog you get, make sure to do a bit of research. This is so that you can know the dog you get and if you can handle the dog before you get it. Before you get going with the training of your dog, you want to make take note of a very important factor. It is that you should never get upset with your dog in the training process. Dogs are somewhat like children, if you get upset with them, they will think that they are doing something wrong. This will make the process a bit more difficult. The First Step - You want to make sure that the dog is on a good schedule. So make up a good daily routine that you will follow. This includes your routine, the time you wake up, the time you go to be bed, the time you eat and so forth. The last thing you want is your doggy getting too confused. If you keep a good routine, the dog will soon catch on and will start running to your routine. Most of the time a dog will get so used to your routine, that you will not even need an alarm clock any more. You will however wake up with a wet face! The Second Step - You want to keep you dog in a room where the floors are either concrete or tile. You do not want any accidents ruining your nice rugs. Do not forget that you doggy needs to sleep too. Make sure that you lay down a comfy bed for him or her to lie in at night. The Third Step - Many people decide to let their dog do its business outside; it is a more natural thing to do. If you however feel that you do not want your doggy getting cold outside at night - inside is perfect too. The Fourth Step - Remember to keep one area designated for the dog's business. It is like humans, you do not play where you do your business. This means you will need to be with the dog in the initial stages of the training. Keep the dog on a leash and make sure that you take the dog to that spot all of the time. Always Remember - If the dog does nothing for the first few times of taking him or her to the "toilet spot", do not play with him. You want to make it known that going to the toilet is important. So, if it does not happen, take him back inside and confine him to his sleeping area.
