Product Review: Usb Sync And Charge Cradle With Spare Battery Charger

Does your Smartphone battery give out too soon during your busy day? The standard batteries shipped with the new Smartphones are feeble at best. Do you like watching videos on your phone but find the battery just isn’t up to it? There’s a simple solution to this dilemma. You can now get a USB Sync and Charge Cradle made especially for your phone. Not only can you sync your Smartphone with your computer, but you can charge your phone at the same time. If that isn’t enough to wow you, you can also charge a spare battery at the same time.

The Droid X USB Sync and Charge Cradle allows you to view the phone in landscape position. Just pop it into the cradle and plug it into the electrical wall socket and voila! You can watch movies, use it as a desktop alarm clock, or for any other kind of app you enjoy. The cradle also features a spot to charge a spare battery. By plugging the cradle into your computer you can sync up all the data and even transfer movies and photos back and forth. Sound great? There are a couple of down sides to the cradle. Although the Droid X plugs directly into the cradle, the cable that comes with the cradle is actually a “mini” USB cable. This goes from your cradle to a USB port. Your Droid X uses a “micro” USB cable to connect directly to its charger or to your computer. This isn’t a real big deal since you got one with your Droid X when you purchased it.

The HTC EVO 4G USB Sync and Charge Cradle operates in the portrait mode. Again it has the spare battery charger built in so you can charge (or sync) your EVO 4G and a spare battery at the same time. Since the 4G network seems to make the standard EVO 4G battery drain like crazy, it only makes sense to have a spare battery charged and ready to go. The reviews for these USB Sync and Charge Cradles are very positive. Depending on which Smartphone you have, there are some little tweaks you make need to make to enjoy all the functions, but all in all, everyone seems to love them. The one big down side is that if you have a protective case on your phone you will have to remove that before docking it. The docking cradle will not accept the phone with an extended battery, however you can charge the extended battery in the spare battery charge while you are using the standard battery in the phone. Would I buy one? Sure. I watch TV.com on my Droid X all the time, and this will allow me to set it on the desk rather than hold it landscape in my hand.
