Productive Fisher Price Doll Furniture: Layout Pointers

Styling by Era

Creating style can be more intense than what you have previously thought, what era will your dollhouse resemble? Most of us want the furniture, paint, wallpaper, etc, to match and flow together from one room to another. This is creating a styling theme. When you get right down to it, you might have your choice set out for you as there are really only three major era styles in dollhouse furniture. Victorian is the first major theme, it is recognized by the embellishments in furniture through long curved lines, elaborate fabric, and old fashioned pieces. If you want to stand out or go with a more up to date style, Modern design will give you simplicity, technology, and some great straight lined pieces. The last is the traditional or classical style which will give you a standard look – Nothing to fancy or distinct of any era, but useful in filling your dollhouse.

Life Touches: Dollhouse Accessories

Little details will have a really big effect in this hobby, and there are thousands of doll house accessories that you can have. Accessories are the china in the kitchen, portraits for the walls, and the books in the bookcase. Not only will these little trinkets add a flare to your doll's house, but it will make your friend's dolls jealous. Also, accessories add that lived in touch. And don't hold back, there are so many miniatures out there that there is no reason you cannot get exactly what you want.

Lighting your way to a great look

Lighting and dollhouses is a little like magic at Christmas time, it adds a tremendous awe factor, but you have to be at the right point to get started. Adding Lights removes your miniature set from being just another toy to a display item that will sit no longer in the toy box, but on the living room mantel. I am not going to lie; lighting is fun, but also a bit challenging. At the same time, isn't the challenge why we are in this hobby? First of all the basics are simply hooking up lighting from a plug to a light. In fact with the instructions at hand you will be surprised at how easy it is. Don't expect to do it perfect the first time, try it out, make a mistake and learn from it. When you start with your first kit, get a small one just so you don't overwhelm yourself, something small and easy. Remember it is only hard or challenging if you make it out to be.

Designing with Linens

Once you understand that anything and everything can change, be created, or designed in your dollhouse it opens up tons of potential. For instance the amount of detail that is available to you is mesmerizing. Fabrics and cloth is one awesome example as you can coordinate colors and have your favorites stand out. Bedrooms are a fabulous place to start. You can coordinate the sheets, mattresses, curtains, pillows, and even a throw blanket. In addition to the bedroom just think of the dinning room rug, curtains, and even napkins After the dining room you go to the bathroom and do some his and her towels, or even a floor mat. There is just an unending amount of personal style that you can put into your dollhouse.
