There are many products out in the market that offer different promise to hair loss sufferers. These products may not offer solution to hair loss but it does pave its way to get the market into believing that it can make the head look better. These seemingly hair replacement products are something that you should be cautious about. Let’s find out how these products place itself to the market. While Rogaine and other minoxidil-based products are giving consumers hopes of hair regrowth, another part of the hair-care industry has been showing itself to a promise of good looking hair. Drugstore chains, beauty shops, and salons are offering a number of products claiming to make hair appear thicker or fuller. While they won’t solve baldness, such products can help hair loss sufferers, women in particular, by giving the appearance of more hair–if, and only if, the products are used regularly. However, according to experts, some of these products “just build hair for the day”. In other words, they give temporary satisfying appearance. For most sufferers, though, this could be satisfying enough rather than obviously appearing with less hair all the time. A quick walk down the store aisle shows a multitude of shampoos, conditioners, gels, mousses, and volumizers competing for your money. Many labeling claims target people with thinning hair, while others hint they can regrow hair, creating controversy about whether such a claim constitutes reality or not. Any product claiming to regrow hair would have to file a new drug application. The Food and Drug Administration has approved only one product for hair regrwoth and that is the drug minoxidil. Experts in hair loss sees that the promises of these hair products are just made for marketing purposes. The products make it looks like hair loss sufferer can solve the problem when they use the product. Most of the time, many of these products seem to thicken hair by coating it with chemicals called polymers. Some cosmetics analysts says that hair has a negative charge, and the polymers’ positive charge causes the polymers to adhere to the hair shaft. This then results in better hair manageability and shine. The hair also retains moisture, causing the shaft to swell and its diameter to expand slightly. Thus, a better looking hair is attained. Many promoters of these products say their pro-vitamin B5 (panthenol) formulas can lead to fuller hair. Experts say don’t bet on it, and according to the agency, the claim has never been proved. By the way, there are products that simply color your scalp to create the appearance of hair. But if you look closer in more or less 20 feet distance, the spray-painted head is going to be obvious.
