Promoting Your Business Website
Many people I meet claim that they can make a website. Only a few of those will be able to make a website that is fit for business. By fit for business I mean bespoke to the needs of the business that it was designed for. Many people claim to be able to get your website on Google. But get your website on Google for what? If a website is on Google for the wrong keywords then you'll get the wrong people visiting you. They are unlikely to buy from you. This is because they were not looking for your product or service in the first place. What does this mean for me? Most businesses need a website. But choose your web designers carefully. They must be willing to find out about your business and have experience of promoting websites to the appropriate target market. If not, your website is unlikely to be a success. Website companies which offer Search Engine Optimisation as an "additional extra", in my experience, are not necessarily the best people to deal with your companies' online presence. Search engine optimisation is best considered as equally important to your website's success. It is a functional requirement not a nice to have. It should be prioritised. Take networking with other small businesses a stage further Once your website is online and on your business card you can start directing prospects to it at business networking events. But wouldn't it be nice if you could also boast about your great position on Google, Yahoo and MSN Live Search? This should take your marketing efforts a stage further.
