One of the most important and sought after addition to the Xbox 360 Elite is the new 120 GB HDD. Finally some space to save all of the paid content your heart desires. The Xbox 360 Elite is still cheaper than Sony’s 80GB console, but does lack some features such as a Blu-ray drive or any other integrated WiFi solution, as some gamers necessitate. The bottom line opinion, though, seems to be that while it''s neither a must-have upgrade for existing 360 owners nor as feature-packed as the PS3, the Xbox 360 Elite''s combination of top-notch gaming and digital media features make it the current game console of choice. Having a storage space of 120 GB and a handful of cables, the Xbox 360 Elite is not yet available for purchase or pre-order. Not in any place that we know of, anyway.
The Xbox 360 Elite is still cheaper than Sony's 80GB console, but does lack some features such as a Blu-ray drive. As the name suggests, the Xbox 360 Elite is for the elite super gamers out to save the world from Alien invaders. And at $449.99, the Xbox 360 Elite barely trails the PS3 as one of the most expensive video game consoles on the market.
In the computer version you get instant feedback to tell you it isn't valid, which may have a subtle effect on the way you play. Your same old system is still perfectly valid.
Microsoft wasn't able to hold onto first place in the video-game console business. But offering an entry-level price of $199 should be just enough to keep it in second. And the line wasn't that long -- 25 or so at 8am.
The smart shopper will wait for the 65nm chip set. Also, the new 65nm chipset apparently the Elite has it . The deal with the 65nm chips, they do run cooler on average because the smaller the part, the better the heat dissipation. So in theory, it could put out more heat energy, but still run cooler because that energy bleeds away faster.
Fck Microsoft for not taking the time to do this right --> wireless, 65nm chip, handjob. We would have expected to see a drop of about 30Watts if this were the 65nm revision.
A lower-priced Core version sells without the hard drive and several accessories for about $400. Thats the only thing of tangible difference considering the 120GB HDD can be purchased separately for the core/premium afaik. Go for a premium with a bundle of games. You'll also need a fairly high-end processor, as decoding the HD signal is computationally very expensive - our test Core 2 Duo E6300 was borderline, and 512MB of graphics RAM is also recommended. But we have no complaints over image quality, with a side-by-side DVD vs HD DVD comparison showing a marked improvement.
Microsoft isn't making as many Xbox 360 Elites - Could the 360 Elite be much harder to make than the Core and Premium or has Microsoft just underestimated demand for the past four months? Some retailers have said they haven't received 360 Elite consoles for the past three weeks. With a phenomenal increase in hard disk capacity (20 to 120 GB) and the essential HDMI 1.2 interface, the Xbox360 Elite scores a lot higher than many of its predecessors. Now you do not have to worry about storing all the games, movies and music files that you might be planning to download via Xbox Live. If you are a hardcore Xbox gamer then you may want to consider getting one of the Xbox 360 Elite Systems. By purchasing an Elite Console you are not only purchasing a state of the art gaming machine, but you are also purchasing a home media center.
First-timers will love the Xbox 360 Core system, which offers an affordable entry into high-definition gaming. The Xbox 360 Elite, with its large hard drive and wireless controller, will appeal to casual and experienced gamers and families. The Xbox 360 Core console is the perfect way for gamers to get all the benefits of the Xbox 360 at a great value price. Later, if they decide to upgrade their Xbox 360, they can add a 120 GB hard drive which is more than double the storage capacity of the PS3, at a price lower than the PS3! Since the Xbox 360 comes in an HDD-less Core variant, a Hynix 128-Mbit NAND flash memory serves as an alternate storage location for operating system patches and other code and data updates. Some versions of the motherboard, albeit not the ones shown in this writeup, also include a 2-kbit Atmel EEPROM directly below the CPU.
The achievements for the game seem to fit also, one is for becoming a 00 agent, another for 007 and another for the now infamous silo mission. There have been rumors about the Elite being phased out for different special editions, such as the Resident Evil bundle we broke the news on , and this would seem to confirm that information. The Mole says we should have this rumor confirmed by the end of next week, so we should know very quickly if his information is accurate. It seems that Microsoft is reacting to the increased competition from Sony and Nintendo for the upcoming holiday season. In anticipation to Sony’s forthcoming price reduction for its PS3 Microsoft will be releasing two Xbox 360 console and game bundles before the end of the month.
Given the 360's well-reported problems with noise and heat, little seems to have been done to address these issues and refresh the technology inside the box. When under pressure, it still sounds unfavourably loud and can easily be heard over any game. Now not only is there a heat pipe going over the GPU but the material the heat sink is made out of seems different as well - it doesn't feel like aluminum. Because the Xbox 360 was first launched in November of 2005, it seems like there have been countless versions of the console released (though in reality, there have been five different SKUs, including the Halo 3 edition). Until the release of the Xbox 360 Elite this year, however, none of these consoles included an HDMI interface.
It seems like Namco Bandai is having a tough time with the high-definition systems. This new console war is being fought a little differently, however, and Nintendo seems to have positioned itself in a separate category altogether from Microsoft and Sony. This new Xbox 360 may not sway the market as much as some think. Looks like it's up to one man — a battle-armored warrior from Earth's distant future — to stop Nintendo's seemingly inexorable march to console dominance.
Sony has driven a stake through the 20GB PlayStation 3 , so the Premium system is now $200 less than the only available PS3 model. This leaves Microsoft with quite a bit of wiggle room when it comes to pricing, although it has to stick in Microsoft's craw that the player haters still have some easy ammunition. Well now, with the 120 GB hard drive you have more space for movies, photos, trailers, songs, and game demos. Microsoft's $400 Xbox 360 game console comes with a built-in DVD drive. After all, they'd like as many people as possible to get in on this whole downloadable content thing. Microsoft Xbox 360 Elite hit the shelves over the weekend, offering buyers 120 GB of hard drive storage, HDTV outputs and other premium features. The new Xbox edition does not match its rival, the PlayStation 3, feature-for-feature, though its hard drive is twice the size of Sony's biggest offering. Other than the smaller screen and integrated graphics, the other major tradeoff usually found with Ultra portables is a lack of an optical drive. These are usually not built into the laptop to save space and weight, but instead are often provided as an external option.
That's why the 360 didn't incorporate a internal HD Drive. Time will tell if the PS3 can provide any games to challenge the 360s major current superioty. The Xbox 360 Hard Drive transfer cable is not a personal computer accessory. It is intended only for connecting the Xbox 360 Hard Drive to your Xbox 360 console for data transfer. Xbox 360 Elite is the premier console package with a huge hard drive, a high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) port, a high-definition cable, and a premium black finish for the console. In addition to a black wireless controller and Xbox LIVE headset.
Yes, it has HDMI and 120GB hard drive. Yes, you can still get the audio separately from HDMI. I like they way they also gave customers the choice to buy a console without a hard drive without bothering to tell them that they will need one if they want to play future games. It was very easy to get those 20 gig of space on the basic hard drive filled up with all sorts of things. We had music to play as background music in some games; we had lots of game demos we were trying out.
I loaded up some 1920 x 1080 images onto a thumb drive and did back-to-back testing of both color bars and vacation photos. This is where the HDMI's shadow details were most apparent. The Elite version is black, and has HDMI/a 120GB hard drive. Also hitting shelves that day will be the 120GB hard drive, the black wireless controller, a black Play & Charge kit and a black rechargeable battery pack as completely standalone accessories. When it comes to plugging into a PC, it's not as straightforward as connecting a standard DVD or CD-ROM drive. Under Windows XP, it's recognized as a normal DVD drive, but claims any HD DVD that you put in is corrupt. Xbox 360 120GB hard drive. The 120GB detachable hard drive allows gamers to save their games and store television shows, movies, music, pictures, trailers, levels, demos and other content available from Xbox LIVE Marketplace. The system will also include the composite and component cables included in the previous Xbox 360 packages.
However, aren’t they also trying to push the console as a digital media solution meaning the larger hard drive is attractive. Also there is no bluray drive or wifi built in. I think that the bigger hard drive alone is worth it but I just want to be 100% sure. Thank you for the help and sorry if this has already been posted on, I couldn't find the thread.
Play your own music to every game and burn it to the hard drive. The 120GB hard drive for the Elite will also be sold separately for $179 USD MSRP, so current 360 owners stuck with 20GB drives can also benefit from increased storage capacities for XBL Arcade and Marketplace downloads. However, Wired notes the new drive has a few caveats thanks to the limitations of the requisite data transfer cable. The hard drive that has a capacity of 120 GB is designed in a detachable manner. This vast storage capacity helps game enthusiasts to save their favourite game versions for later use.
I am not sure how tempting an HDMI Xbox is going to be if it doesn't deliver lossless audio. It might not matter to most, but the console is selling for a premium, so why wouldn't they adopt a newer standard? Can someone advise me on the HDMI connection and VGA cables sold separately. I was thinking of getting an Elite for the HDMI but does it allow the console to output the graphics natively at 1366*768P like the VGA cable enables or does it just output at 720P and 1080i/P, upscaling and downscaling respectively. WIth all the talk about HDMI not being important, isn’t raising the price of a new model and including HDMI giving Sony a little big of credit for including this connector out of the gate. Will consumers see PS3 as a better value with its added Wi-Fight and Blu-Ray support.
About Sony not including HDMI cable, you can get the actual Sony brand cheap if one signs up with Sony rewards. No you won't need to sign up for their credit card. Included in the package are a wireless controller, ethernet cable, headset, component cables, and an HDMI cable. Aside from the HDMI port, the Xbox 360 Elite is almost no different in functionality of a current Xbox 360 console with the expanded hard drive. The Elite console still omits any sort of Wi-Fi feature and utilizes the same types of optical drives that give the Xbox 360 the reputation for a being a loud console.
I believe that Microsoft made a fatal mistake in not supporting the original console, including or making the HDMI cable for the system. Microsoft stated that all the inner workings are the same.
The HDMI cable is only necessary for those with an HDTV or monitor with HDMI support. For those who don't know whether or not they need an HDMI cable, chances are, they don't. Assuming that it is listed as a compatible model from the link above you will go ahead and run the internet cable into any of the 4 ports on the back from your computer. At this point you can open the web browser on your computer and direct it at http://192.168.1.1 then prepare to be asked for your login credentials.
You can use a memory card and copy a little at a time, but the faster method is to use the Microsoft Data Migration Kit and transfer all content at once. Some licenses do not transfer so you have to connect to Xbox LIVE to watch that transferred content. Microsoft has announced that the bundle will now ship with Halo 3 and Fable 2 . Both games are Xbox 360 exclusives and carry an M rating. Microsoft will remove the Xbox 360 Elite as an everyday option at its stores if a new leak proves accurate. Multiple sources for Fudzilla claim that Microsoft will start winding down production of the standard, black model in the spring and will eventually leave just limited editions such as the Resident Evil 5 bundle in certain store chains in North America and Europe.
Are Microsoft using a more robust mechanism for attaching the chip to the board? I believe that Europe is a PAL region which means Microsoft must have made a large amount of PAL consoles by now. So i believe Australia cant be to far away from receiving sum consoles maybe a couple of months at the most. I think that Microsoft is suffering in the economy just like everyone else. Microsoft is even passing the PS3 by.
Microsoft Corporation announced that it would launch it advanced version of the Xbox 360 game console, Xbox 360 Elite on October 11 in Japan. This new X-box features 120-gigabyte hard drive, six times larger than the regular Xbox 360?s hard drive.
This set will be price like all the other Elite bundles at $399.99. The bundle will be available in all . You do have a point though, and I am sure the PS3 will be a long term seller once they drop the price. Just look what happened to 360 sales when the lowered the price around 6 months ago.
