When men experience constant hair loss, he could assume that he will be balding any time soon. Hair loss in men seems to be common and natural. Yet, not all men can accept such fate especially if there are plenty of hair replacement methods that can be employed. While men experience the early stage of hair loss, doctors sometimes recommend hair replacement medication. One of the most common prescription drugs to treat hair loss is Propecia or generically called Finasteride.

The study on the use of Propecia showed impressive result with 9 out of 10 men yielding positive hair growth. The result was derived after 3 to 12 months use of the medication. The hair re-growth appears to the balding area in the anterior and vertex section of the head. So far Propecia is the only pill that is approved by FDA to treat male pattern baldness.

Since the medicine is a prescription drug, you need to see a doctor before you use it as your hair replacement medication. Besides, it would be safe if you will be examined further before you can take the said medicine. Remember that as a drug, there may be possible side effects, contraindications and interaction with other medicines. Even if you feel that you are generally healthy, you need to further understand from your doctor how Propecia can really work in your body to treat hair loss problems.
