Prostate Infection Symptoms

There are many symptoms of prostate infection, although some are more subtle than others. Sometimes it is obvious that you have a prostate infection while other times it may require you to know what to look for to stop the situation getting worse.

As a general rule, if you are getting pain around the genital area or having difficult urinating you should visit a doctor immediately. This might be a sign of a prostate infection but it may also be a sign of something more serious such as prostate cancer, so it's vital to get check out as soon as possible.

Due to the location of the prostate gland, most infection symptoms are around the genital area. Symptoms of an infection include:

1. Difficulty or pain urinating – this is the most common sign of a prostate infection and should be taken seriously
2. Blood in urine (in severe cases) – if this happens it could be a sign of something more serious so visit your doctor immediately
3. Pain while ejaculating – this is a less common prostate infection symptom but is possible nonetheless.

These could also be caused by UTIs (urinary tract infections) so don't automatically mean you have a prostate infection, but these are the things to watch out for. Your doctor will be able to diagnose your condition exactly and advise you on further treatment, and also discover if there is something more serious wrong.

Infections of the prostate can escalate quickly if not treated, so don't delay in booking an appointment with your doctor. In many cases they can be treated fairly easily and quickly with modern medicine.
