A pubic shaver can be electric or manual, in the form of a razor with a blade. The electric ones are safer because they have a guard on top of the blades. But as a beginner you can start with an electric shaver and then graduate to a razor if you so desire.

When you use a pubic hair shaver use the following steps:

1. Moisten the area first
2. Cut excess hair off with scissors
3. Shave the area with smooth strokes, you may have to go over the area more than once
4. Apply a soothing cream to avoid razor burn
5. Wear loose undergarments for some time to avoid stubble catching on your clothing
