Well, since they are public domain images, it is possible. You need not pay any kind of royalty to anyone or go through the hassle of securing the rights to the images because they are available for anybody’s use. You can re-publish or re-package them and then sell it. Think about it, if you have written a book and need images to further illustrate what you have written you would either have to pay someone to create the images for you or pay for the right’s to use someone’s photograph or artwork. But this shouldn’t be the case if you opt to go with images that were made available in the public domain. Remember, anything that was published before 1923 as well as various photographs, under certain conditions, that were published up to 1978 are considered to be in the public domain.
