Public Folder Re-homing In Exchange Server During Restoration
In case of disaster recovery from Exchange Server, the public folders may be re-homed under the
subsequent conditions:
The Exchange Server Information Store is restored to the recovery server
The information store or directory service consistency checker is run on recovery server
The Information Store Service is terminated on recovery server
The Information Store database files are replicated on the production server and the
information store is started
When information store service is begun on the production server, public folder copying takes place among the production server and all the public folder servers. After completing the process, all unsecured public folders of the organization are re-homed to production server.
Because the public folders are re-homed, the clients can not access the public folders. Also unlike the other public folders re-homing cases, in this case, no administrator at any site could administer the public folders.
The recovery server, on which the information stored was restored, didn’t have the copy of folder from the production server. Thus, when you run information store checker or directory service, the information store or directory store does not have any information regarding other servers and mailboxes. As a result, all of the data stored on the Exchange Server becomes inaccessible.
When you copy the Pub.edb file, in such situations, from server and try to access it, you may come across the following error message:
“The object cannot be found in the directory. This could be because replication has not completed.
Microsoft Exchange Directory
ID no: c1010aae”
This is the case of EDB corruption and you need to repair and restore it as soon as possible to gain access of the stored data. It can be done using the EDB recovery software available in the market.
EDB Recovery or Exchange Server recovery software are the third party applications which are designed to repair and restore the damaged EDB file in all possible cases of corruption. The Exchange recovery from these software is carried out by systematically scanning the damaged EDB file and extracting mailboxes from it.
Stellar Phoenix Mailbox Exchange Recovery is the most influential and the highly developed EDB recovery software, able to address all of the Exchange Server database corruption issues. Doing Exchange recovery using this software is not a big bet as this software has an interactive user interface and doesn’t demand any sound technical knowledge.
This EDB recovery software allows you to recover selected mailboxes from the database. The recovered mailboxes are saved in PST format, directly usable with Microsoft Outlook email client. This EDB Repair software is usable with all file versions of MS Exchange Server including Exchange server 4, 5, 5.5, 2000, and 2003.
