Pure Religion And Undefiled

The book of James, in the bible, tells us that pure religion and undefiled according to the bible is to visit the widows and fatherless in their affliction. This is true and very true, but when many are asked what pure religion is, many would define it as living a sin free life. Both are correct. The bible itself teaches us that when one come to faith and trust in Jesus for salvation, they become dead to sin and alive unto God. That is to say that they will no longer live a life in sin. They will live according to the standards of the bible, which is a standard of holiness.

Pure religion and undefiled before God is a religion where one bridles his own tongue. The bible speaks of the difficulty one has containing his or her own tongue, but one with pure religion has the power to do so through the strength of the Holy Spirit. Pure religion and undefiled consists of living a sin free life, which many times means to control the tongue. The bible tells us the tongue is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. One who practices pure religion and undefiled before God has perfected taming of the tongue.

Pure religion and undefiled before God is also a religion of love. The bible teaches us that God is love, and he who is born of God is born of love. Therefore, one who has pure religion will walk in pure love before God. As the bible tells us, only the pure in heart shall see God. One must have a pure heart of love in order to be walking in pure religion before God.
