Qualities Of A Good Translation Company

If you would search the internet for someone who can do a decent enough translation job for you, you will encounter a multitude of websites and web pages of different translation companies, all claiming to deliver this and accomplish that, often with all the bells and whistles. This can be daunting, so here are a few pointers to help you determine if the translation company you are dealing with is actually good.

Like any other business outfit whose main goal is to get as many clients as possible, a translation company will do its best (and play all the tricks up its sleeve, so to speak) to wow you with all sorts of claims. You see “we have the lowest per page price,” and sometimes, your mind just stops thinking critically.

If you are on a tight budget—say, you only want a simple email or letter translated from Greek to English so you can respond correctly to your Greek friend—it is easy to get smitten with price considerations alone. You probably have tried the free online translation tools and realized that although “free” is good, you do not want to risk appearing “weird” to your friend by responding with something you are not confident about.

So here you are, looking for a good translation company, and hopefully one that would not take all the coins in your purse. You see “lowest price,” and you’re already clicking the “Order” button. But is this really wise? Or isn’t this reckless?

You see, finding a good translation company can be easy if you remember a few major things. First off, browse the translation company’s website with a “critical eye.” Watch out for details, like any typo in the text, or any awkward phrases. A typo-riddled website content demonstrates that, despite all claims about quality, the translation company does not really know the first thing about what it is claiming. If the translation company’s website itself is full of typographical mistakes, then how can it assure you of an accurate and decent output?

Moreover, aside from price, you should also check out their list of past accomplishments. Who have been their clients? Don’t bother about the supposed “testimonials,” as these could be simply not true. Instead, check names, and see if you can verify their list of past clients. Also, does the translation company have quality certifications? If their translators also provide a sort of “certification” to each of their work to assure you of nothing less than a thoroughly accomplished job, then that should also be a major plus.

And all these would be useless if the translation company is so hard to contact. So if you see a “Chat with us” button that allows you to chat with a representative 24 hours a day, seven days a week, that would be a strong indication that at least, you are dealing with a translation company who knows what customer service and responsibility mean. And if they have got that aspect covered, then most probably they also know how to ensure high-quality output. Then you are finally sure you have a good translation company.
