Quick Affiliate Marketing Tip: How To Make Use Of The Merchant

Here's one affiliate marketing tip you might not hear much about. And many affiliates do not know this but you can dramatically boost your sales if you bother to communicate with the merchants. How is this so? Simple, since the merchant owns the product, he can provide some very useful information on how best to do your promotion.

The merchant already has a set of marketing data he uses to determine the profitability of the product. If you contact him and let him know that you are an affiliate, he will definitely do his best to help you. At least most merchants will.

If you don't hear from the merchant after your first attempt in communicating with him, don't despair. You can always go for it a second time. If you still don't hear from the merchant after your third try in communicating with him, it is then time to consider if you want to continue promoting his product because if you can't talk to him, then he might not really care about his affiliates and payment to you might not be on time.

Always treat your affiliate business like a real business. And project this professionalism when you are corresponding with the merchants. Don't worry, good merchants love to hear from affiliates and obtain their feedback. For example, a merchant may have a great product, works like a charm but the packaging or sales page is amateurish or poorly designed, you can provide valuable input on how to improve the site to look more professional and credible to the average consumer. Information like this is very important to the merchants because you are helping them improve their conversion rates.

Better merchants will even provide the necessary promotion materials so you can immediately use those ideas and start your campaigns. Others will have a dedicated forum for fellow affiliates to share experiences and learn from one another. This is the place to ask questions and the merchant himself might be around to clear any doubts you have.

Affiliate Networks like Commission Junction even has their own in-house affiliate training "university" that aims to nurture super affiliates. Spend some time there and you will come out much wiser.

So when you run into problems with any of your affiliate marketing campaigns, you can try seeking the merchants of the products you are promoting for advice or guidance. They will love to help you succeed, after all, you are helping them succeed as well. You can now make your presence felt with the merchants with this little used affiliate marketing tip!
