Raw Olives-a Fantastic Fruit

Raw Olives really are amazing.

They provide us with so much. Fantastic starting point for home curing, some amazing Gourmet Oils and even the beginnings of many modern beauty products.

For those of us with our own trees we know how amazing it is to go through the curing process and turn this most bitter of fruits into something that tastes so delicious. It is wonderful that a few weeks of changing the water that we soak our Olives in can so dramatically change their flavour.
I for one would hate to be without them.

For many though the problem arises of where to source Olives in their natural state. There really are very few resources available. The advantages of procuring them in their natural state are many but the main ones being that you will know exactly what processes they have gone through. You can home cure in any number of different manners safe in the knowledge that they will have gone through only a totally natural process with no chemicals or artificial flavour enhancers involved.

Home curing is a great fun way to experiment with different tastes and will certainly make you appreciate the taste so much more.

Olives can be cured green or black. Green olives being an unripe version of a black olive. We each have our preferences mine being dark black olives that seem to be that much more intense in flavour.

In this day and age it is more and more important that we source our food from reliable sources and know exactly what goes into all the processes before it arrives on our plate or in our stomachs.
