Reasons Why You Need To Lose Weight

Are you happy with your weight?? If the answer is YES, then congratulations. You are in the minority in today’s society and should be admired for your positivity.

However, some weight loss still may be needed. Many overweight people say that they are happy with their bodies, but the fact remains that it is very important to achieve a healthy weight. Even if you feel unconcerned with carrying a few extra pounds there are a number of reasons you should consider weight loss.


Health Risks

Primarily, if you are overweight, you have an increased risk of contracting a number of diseases. The major risk you are exposed to is heart disease. Many heart attacks are fatal. Heart disease develops when your heart has to work much harder to pump blood around the body. This causes it to become fatigued. Being overweight, high blood pressure & high cholesterol are major contributory factors causing this fatigue.

Another danger overweight people expose themselves to by having high blood pressure and high cholesterol levels is the increased chances of having a stroke. Strokes occur when blood, and therefore oxygen, cannot reach the brain. Having high cholesterol levels causes fatty deposits to build up on the artery walls. Should these deposits break away from the artery wall and travel to the heart, they cause a blockage resulting in a heart attack. Similarly if a deposit travels to the brain, the blockage results in a stroke.

Pregnancy

For women hoping to become pregnant, being overweight can cause many problems. A woman hoping to conceive must have the correct balance of nutrients in their body to ensure the proper chemicals are produced to stimulate ovulation and also to carry the foetus. Even if a woman becomes pregnant, being overweight brings an increased risk of miscarriage or health problems for the baby.

Everyday Life

In addition to health issues, being overweight can also bring difficulties to your everyday life. It may be more difficult to purchase clothing in the right size. Problems can extend beyond shopping to a variety of issues. Overweight people may not be able to ride all of the attractions at their chosen theme park or comfortably use public transport.

Even if you are currently happy with your own weight, losing a few pounds is always a healthy and smart option.
