Red Cliff Dvd : A John Woo Film That Is Incredibly Acted And Beautifully Written
Red Cliff is a movie that defies time and space. John Woo has written an enticing film that is wonderfully acted. It combines the history and the legend of the Chinese war, during the historical Chinese period of the Three kingdoms.
There is another film, in competition with Red Cliff, which also tries to depict the same time in Chinese history. John Woo, by far, did a much better job at showing the war in a realistic fashion from various angles. It is also much more entertaining than any other film relating to the same topic.
This is a more that you will find yourself watching more than once. The intricate characters leave you with a feeling of longing to know more about them. You will realize that each time you watch the film you will notice something that you have not seen the before. As one may expect, John Woo also delivers on the tight actions scenes, like only he can. There are rumors that John Woo is working on an American version of the film, but in the mean time you should check out this original film.
The only issue I have with the film is that there is no end. This is not really a downfall, now however, as the continuation was released earlier this year, so you can now watch both films back to back. The continuation is just as great as the original. You will get so into the film and the character that you will be unhappy that there was no ending, so I suggest that you purchase both film at one time. If you just purchase the first film, you will find yourself back to the store or online shop and purchasing the second one shortly after.
Red Cliff is a talented movie that really allows you to look into the war, from various perspective and various characters. You will find yourself feeling for the characters during each step and decision that they make. Even though the movie starts to draw at in the middle, it is still one of the best movies that I have watched all year.
