Remember These Important Details When Considering Genital Hair Removal.

Shaving is the first idea which comes to mind when one thinks of removing one’s genital hair, but women and men have markedly different needs when it comes to actually shaving their private parts. Women can often use their regular razor for most of their genital hair removal, since the area has smooth planes and the surface features are generally quite gentle.

Men, on the other hand, will end up with extremely painful and potentially dangerous cuts should they attempt to use a regular facial razor on the architecture of their pubic region. The straight blades of such standard razors are ill-suited to shaving the testicles, which have a sharply rounded shape and extremely delicate skin, and the results are generally exceedingly unpleasant. Fortunately, special genital razors are available which circumvent these problems. Both sexes can use them, but men benefit more, for obvious reasons.

Waxing is another alternative which has different effects on men and women. A Brazilian waxing is somewhat painful for a woman, but is effective and has a clean, rapid effect. By contrast, the loose skin of the male scrotum is very ill adapted to successful waxing. The skin is also extremely sensitive, meaning that the wax can easily burn the skin and cause pain, swelling, and intense soreness that lasts for several days, or even up to a week. Additionally, many aestheticians simply refuse to attempt the process, making home waxing the only alternative – an alternative fraught with the risk of injury, including possible tearing the scrotum itself.

Neither the male nor the female genital area should be treated with most hair removal creams, which have a strong effect on the skin as well as hair. Using these creams is almost certain to lead to painful chemical surface burns or rashes in an already sensitive area of the body.

Laser genital hair removal is in many ways the best option for those who can afford it, since it has the least possibility of injury and the most flexibility in an area of the body which is awkward to epilate under the best of circumstances.

Four to eight sessions, each costing $150 or more, are usually needed for a full removal, so this is not a project to be undertaken lightly for most people. The genital area should not be exposed to sunlight for a minimum of six weeks after laser treatment, since the skin is highly sensitive and could be damaged easily by sun.
