Remodelling Your Bathroom
Stay Neutral. It is important, if you do intend to sell your home at some point in the future, to stick with neutral colour schemes such as creams and whites. You may prefer more striking colours, such as reds or yellows, but it is likely that your potential buyer will not. Neutral colours lend future homeowners more design options, which they will appreciate. Of course, it is also important that you are happy with your bathroom’s design, which you will have to live with until you manage to sell your home, and so it may be worth adding artwork or decorative towels to give some colour to the room. Add a Tub. If your bathroom is currently without a bath (perhaps you prefer taking showers), then it may be worth adding one. Surprisingly, the mere addition of a bath can make a home much more saleable and can dramatically increase its value. If your bathroom is too small for a bath then consider investing in a walk-in shower with multiple showerheads. Steam showers are incredibly popular at the minute and have even surpassed the ever-trendy whirlpool bath! The Power of Mirrors. As has always been the case, potential homebuyers look for space, especially within a bathroom. If yours is on the smaller side then you may think that there’s little you can do about it, but this isn’t strictly true. There are tricks you can use to make your bathroom feel bigger, such as adding wall-to-wall, counter-to-ceiling mirrors, which can make your small bathroom seem a lot bigger. His and hers sinks look great with a wall-to-wall mirror, as it effectively unifies the space. Of course, not everyone can afford to spend a fortune on remodelling their bathroom, but there are changes you can make that don’t cost the earth. Dual sinks, recessed medicine cabinets and even the mere addition of a dimmer switch can all go down well with prospective buyers, allowing you to add value to your home almost effortlessly. Just remember that you are re modelling your home for a potential buyer that you don't know whos tastes could vary wildly from your own.
