If you find the place you like and can afford, make sure you hand your deposit over as soon as you can. This is repayable when you leave. Make sure you aware of all of your rights and what you are responsible for. Take your time to read the small print in your contract. Ask the landlord to write in the new contract which bills your are responsible for. If you have made any special requests to the landlord, make sure they are applied to the contract too. So everything is in black and white and on paper, which you both will have a copy of.
