The internet has opened the doors for ten of hundreds of thousands of everyday people to earn either a secondary income or stand alone – full blown stay at home business. Residual income opportunities are often over looked, but think about it, would you rather spend “X” amount of energy selling one affiliate product once (over and over or your profits dry up)? Or use the same energy with a residual income affiliate program that pays you for months and years to come?
Standard affiliate marketing has done well for loads of people, and they have the $77 e-books to tell you about it, but they require constant maintenance and sales. When you get a chance to earn residual income from home though, it provides a foundation to fall back on. Every sale (membership) is just adding to next months paycheck. Besides, residual income affiliate programs should be part of anyone’s portfolio when striving for independence with a ‘stay at home job’. As any good financial planner will tell you, it involves a little discipline, held over a relatively short period of time, and you too can achieve this honorable goal.
There are as hundreds of residual income affiliate programs to choose from. Some are linear, some have matrixes. There are 1 ups, 2 ups, forced, etc.. Some have been around for years, some are brand new (proceed with caution). Some are “loose” in the sense that people come and go like the wind. Others are an investment that becomes part of the fabric of the uses lifestyle.
Dating sites are one example. They are all over the internet and very competitive. The dating site has a goal. It wants to give people free memberships. Why? The free memberships are very limited. You can see the candy, but you can’t communicate with it. In order to send an email to that hunk-O-love, you have to convert to a paid membership. Once you do, the dating site will do all it can to keep you as a member. The longer you are a member, the longer you are going to be paying monthly membership fees.
As an affiliate, would you want to go with a one time payment or a residual payment on a dating site? There is no easy answer. Often, you need to do tests to see how long the average member stays a paying member. If they stay for 6 months, then residual makes sense. If they stay for 2 months, then taking a bigger upfront payment makes sense. Yep, it all comes down to math.
Think about the kind of people that you would be marketing to also.. With the dating sites, you would be finding people that are on the prowl and once they find a keeper they are no longer in need of the services and cancel. A better example would be like the monthly legal service sites. These people are there for a more sincere reason and have the need to stay with it month after month.
Then there is the best kind. The kind that is weaved into ones life that they can not replace without revamping everything they have worked towards putting together. Such a residual income affiliate program would be easy to keep long term memberships. Leaving you free to advance as a mentor. This is when you can truly start to control your own destiny!
