Resolving Fatal System Errors In Ms Access

A fatal system error while accessing Microsoft Access database can be caused due to damage or corrupted database, fragmented database, incorrect registry settings, mismatched dynamic link libraries (*.dll files) and malicious software like virus. Data saved in the MS Access database becomes inaccessible once you encounter the fatal system error message. For complete access of data in such situations, you need to restore the data from an up-to-date backup. But, if you have not created any backup or backup falls short to restore the required data, then you need to recover the data by using advanced access recovery application.

Two common fatal system error messages that you receive when you attempt to mount your Access database are:

“Microsoft Access has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.
If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost.
Please tell Microsoft about this problem.
We have created an error report that you can send to help us improve Microsoft Access. We will treat this report as confidential and anonymous.

Or

“MSACCESS.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created.”

The best possible way to resolve the above any of fatal system error messages is by using an inbuilt utility known as “Compact and Repair.” Below are the steps that you will need to follow to use this utility:

1. Go to the Tools menu, select Database Utilities and then click Compact and Repair Database.
2. Locate and then click the database in the ‘Database to Compact From’ dialog box, and then click Compact.
3. Select an appropriate folder location for the new file in the ‘Compact Database Into’ dialog box, type a unique name for the file and then click on Save.

If “Compact and Repair” utility is unable to resolve your issue, then you need to import all the database components to a new Access database. In most cases, importing the databases objects completely resolves the problem. But, if you still receive any of the above error messages after the importing the database objects, then you will need to recover the data by using advanced Access Recovery application. These access repair applications employ advanced scanning algorithms to completely scan and repair the corrupted database. With highly graphical user-interface, these applications are easy to understand and implement.
