Road Bike Review
Key Features and Parts Although there are many features of a road bicycle but two most notable features are its light weight and the rider position. You can easily recognize a road bike amongst hundreds of bikes by seeing its handlebars that are lower than the saddles. This is designed to put the rider in an aerodynamic position. The road bike provides amazing handling capabilities because its rear and front wheels are close together. The key parts of a road bicycle are as follows: * Saddle * Downward Handlebars * Seat-post * Brake levers * Head tube * Down tube * Seat stay * Chain stay * Gear shifters * Stylish rims The other most important part of any bicycle that calculates its performance is the wheels. The rims can be shaped to achieve greater efficiency. The rim of a road bicycle makes a triangular cross-section to form a teardrop with the tire. For hill climbs, however, energy losses due to the higher rotating weight of most aerodynamic rims are greater than the aerodynamic drag reduction that they offer, so a traditional lighter box-sectioned rim is often used. Rims are usually made from various alloys like aluminum alloy. However, a rim for a road bicycle can be made from a carbon fiber that is less in weight as compared to a metal rim. For better aerodynamics, it is always advisable to lower the number of spokes present in the wheel.
